COVID-19 Resident Announcements
March 23, 2020

Rieley Properties/Finney Crossing Apartments is closely monitoring news updates and we are working to implement best practices in response to COVID-19 as outlined by our local, state and federal authorities. Our staff's safety and the safety of our residents is our foremost priority.
Main Office Hours
-
Starting Wednesday, March 19th, our main office will be transitioning to online and remote servicing where possible. Our management team and staff will be working and available via phone and text. Our office phones will be staffed as usual. In-person resident communications will be arranged as needed.
Maintenance Requests
-
Maintenance requests should still be entered through Impak, our online maintenance reporting system or by calling our office at 802-861-7778. If you have a maintenance request and are feeling ill, please let our staff know in advance, so that our technicians can take appropriate safety precautions. While we will continue to perform routine maintenance requests as usual, there is a possibility that we may need to transition to emergency only calls as the pandemic progresses. Any changes to our maintenance service will be communicated promptly via Impak.
Paying Rent
-
If you typically pay your rent in person, there are online options via ACH, by mail or by using our secure exterior drop box at our 309 College Street office.
Hygiene Response
-
To increase the level of protection at our buildings, we have added additional hygiene measures to disinfect common areas. We have also increased the cleaning frequency of commonly touched surfaces such as call and code boxes, doorknobs and elevator panels. We have temporarily closed the fitness rooms.
-
Our staff is being advised to monitor their own health and to take extra precautions.
-
In addition, some of the CDC recommendations that we are following and encourage all residents to follow are as follows:
-
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
-
Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
-
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and throw the tissue in the trash.
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
-
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
-
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects (e.g., tables, countertops, light switches, doorknobs, and cabinet handles).
-
Additional information and recommendations can be found at the Vermont Department of Heath's website at www.healthvermont.gov.
Fire Safety
-
This is a reminder that we will be performing required fire safety maintenance on Wednesday, March 18th between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm. Included will be inspecting and/or replacing all fire extinguishers and replacing all smoke and CO2 alarm batteries.
-
We will not be doing the Vermont Department of Health EMP (lead paint) inspections as previously relayed. These will be rescheduled to a later date.
-
In light of COVID-19, we will be adding additional safety protocols.
1. Confirm prior to entering units that residents are not having COVID-19 related symptoms. If residents are ill, we will not enter units but will make other arrangements to safely replace fire extinguishers.
2. Request that residents at home remain the recommended 6' distance from technicians
3. Wear disposable gloves and discard/replace them prior to entering each unit
4. Wear safety masks and shoe coverings
-
We apologize for the inconvenience however fire safety compliance measures are required by the State of Vermont. Please contact our office at 802-861-7778 with any questions or concerns.
Toilet Paper & Plumbing
-
As most of you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has produced a shortage of toilet paper. Many stores are currently out of stock with hopes to have availability in the near future. We would like to remind residents not to flush any paper products other than toilet paper down your toilets. Everything other than toilet paper, even if it is being used as such, should go in the waste receptacle. That includes paper towels, "flushable wipes", disinfecting wipes, tissues, napkins and feminine hygiene products.
-
Toilet paper is designed to break apart and disintegrate shortly after getting wet. Paper towels are designed to soften and absorb when wet, they do not disintegrate. "Flushable" or "disposable" wipes, although frequently labelled and marketed as flushable, are not suitable for use in toilets and sewer systems and will cause your toilet and sewer to back up and clog.
-
In an effort to reduce the COVID-19 risk to our staff and residents, please dispose of only toilet paper in your toilet. We do not want to enter apartment units to attend to clogged toilets if it can be avoided.
